History & Nutrition info for the Bar None

The Bar None was a candy bar created by Hershey’s and released in 1986 for testing in California. In 1987 the candy bar was released nationwide. The original recipe consisted of a cocoa wafer, chocolate filling, peanuts and a milk chocolate coating.

In 1993 the Hershey’s company changed the candy bar, some say to compete with Twix, by splitting it into two pieces and adding caramel. The company also updated the wrapper. It was eventually discontinued, possibly in 1996, I don’t remember the exact date. At some point it was released in Mexico and may still be available there, though in altered form. It is (or was) also rumored to be available in the Philippines.

Nutrition info for the Bar None according to CNN as of Sept 1996 (in my opinion this is the nutrition info for the first version of the bar even though the date of the info is well after the bar was changed to two sticks.
